Rainwater Harvesting Workshop in Cambria - Jan. 4th The workshop will include a tour of a laundry-to-landscape project, options for installing rainwater catchment tanks at gutter downspouts, and using earthworks to create catch basins in the landscape. Green Building Alliance - Jan. 8th With California's mild weather, many homes have oversized heating systems. For newer homes, and those with energy upgrades, these oversized systems can actually result in reduced levels of comfort, reliability, and energy efficiency. In this month's presentation, Paul Menconi will discuss his experience with replacing his grossly oversized furnace with a hydronic air handler, or hot-water fan coil, fed from the existing water heater. 5:30 to 7:30pm at the Courtyard Marriott in San Luis Obispo.
Cuesta College's LEED Green Associate Course Explore the environmental impacts of the built environment, principals of green building design and construction, available rating/certification systems for green building, with an in-depth review of the LEED Rating Systems and their applications, specifically the LEED v4 Building Design and Construction (BD&C) Rating System. CSU Transferable. Participants qualify to participate in the Cuesta College Community Green Program that includes Study Materials (Green Associate Study Guide and Core Concepts), and LEED Green Associate exam at no cost (a $400 value)!
